It's scientific proof. We make science, technology, engineering and math oh-so-fun!
Imagination Station is a community resource that plays an integral role in shaping both the educational and cultural landscape of Lucas County. With educational resources for both families and educators, the science center helps engage learners of all ages in STEM education. We provide curricula that is aligned to current standards to enhance learning in the classroom, and we make the sciences fun and engaging so that anyone visiting the science center can experience how exciting and accessible the sciences are. Our exhibits, educational programs, science demonstrations and interactive activities provide unique learning opportunities that are not possible within the pages of a textbook or within a classroom setting.
The science center also adds an important layer to the rich culture of the Toledo region. In addition to being educational, we are also an entertainment center that provides a fun space for families and educators every day. Our temporary exhibitions bring unique experiences to Toledo every year. Through these, we draw visitors to Lucas County. About 60% of our 200,000 yearly visitors come from outside Lucas County to spend their time and money within Toledo.
What has been done?
Imagination Station has welcomed over 1.4 million visitors since opening, and the science center has continued to grow and evolve in order to provide more resources to Lucas County and Northwest Ohio. During the 2008 and 2012 levy campaigns, Imagination Station promised to provide a robust, fresh educational and cultural resource, and we have delivered.
We have continually looked for ways to improve our facility, our educational offerings and our community impact. Here is a brief snapshot of what we have accomplished over the past four years.
Imagination Station has worked to keep our facility top-notch, and we have aggressively pursued community and private support to do so. This has resulted in upgrades both big and small throughout the science center. Some of the larger permanent upgrades include:
