Topics

Bubbles

Experimenting with bubbles is a great outdoor activity for all ages! Imagination Station makes a special bubble solution that is excellent for making small and giant bubbles. We bring buckets and bins for the solution and many different types of wands. Guests create bubbles and explore using the various instruments.

Button Flywheels

Build your own button flywheel fidget toy and learn how to expertly operate it. Explore the change from potential to kinetic energy as you wind up the yarn and then release it (similar to a yo-yo) as long as you like.

Circuits

Engage in electrical engineering by creating circuits to power small lights and motors. Participants explore the 3 essential elements of circuitry and learn how to make parallel, simple, and series circuits.

Dowel Rods and Rubber Bands

Explore structural engineering with the challenge of building sturdy structures with limited supplies. For this large-scale engineering challenge we provide long wooden dowels (in various lengths) and guests use rubber bands to connect them and build structures like towers and domes.

Nitro-pops

Participants will make their own tasty frozen treat by dipping a marshmallow into an ice cream base and liquid nitrogen. They will explore the properties of liquid nitrogen and why it is such a “cool” scientific substance.

Robots

Become a robot programmer! Experiment with making robots move, light up, make sounds, and sense their environment. We offer a variety of robots that will work for different ages and experience levels.

Rockets

Participants will explore Newton's 3rd Law—for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction—as they make a chemical reaction strong enough to propel a film canister to the ceiling. Participants may experiment with ingredients to make the highest and fastest rockets.

Seed Necklaces

Make your own growing accessory. Learn about what plants need to grow and create the perfect environment for a small seed. Participants can take their necklaces with them and hang them in the sun to watch them grow within just a few days.

Slime

Explore how simple ingredients can be mixed to make your very own non-Newtonian fluids and experiment with different amounts of each ingredient to get the perfect slime texture.
