Celebrating Women in STEM
This is What a Scientist Looks Like!
Women make up only 28% of the workforce in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). With men outnumbering women majoring in most STEM fields in college, the gender gaps are growing to relatively high numbers in some of the fastest-growing and highest-paid jobs of the future like engineering.
The IF/THEN initiative is intended to inspire girls and young women to pursue STEM careers by exposing them to professionals that presents STEM as exciting and relatable as well as shift the cultural perceptions of who works in STEM.
Imagination Station was one of the museums who was selected as a recipient of a Gender Equity Grant from the Association of Science and Technology Centers and IF/THEN. Below are some inspiring videos and interviews from some of the women featured by IF/THEN ambassadors as well as some amazing STEM professionals from the Toledo area.
Connecting You to STEM Topics
IF/THEN®, an initiative of Lyda Hill Philanthropies also supports the development of programs and discussions that connect communities to STEM. Imagination Station is creating opportunities that tackle current STEM topics to promote learning and foster meaningful discussions.
